Happy Winter Solstice!
Since the sun is currently doing its annual "hide and seek" act, I thought I’d share my latest contributions to the winter festival of lights.
If we’re going to be tilted away from the sun, we might as well do it with some style and a bit of physics. (Yes, I know this email will arrive the day after—one day, I’ll learn to write these in advance.)
The Big Dipper Candelabra
Continuing my series using NASA data, this piece brings the heavens down to your dining table! Like my larger public works, this is an accurate three-dimensional representation of the stars, designed to make the abstract feel tangible and physical.
The Holiday Multi-Tasker: Convertible Candelabra, Menorah, and Christmas Tree
Why choose one holiday when you can have them all? I’ve engineered this steel piece to be the "Swiss Army Knife" of holiday decor. It’s a Candelabra! It’s a Menorah! It’s a Christmas Tree!
But wait, can one sculpture really handle that much holiday pressure? (the answer is “yes”.)
Helix One
This one is a real labor of love, a dimmable light sculpture featuring a thin beam of light emanating from the center of a metal Fibonacci spiral. The base is made from solid wood and available in any color you wish. It warms the room with a quiet resonance.
A Solstice "Secret" Alignment
Speaking of the solstice, today is the day Wavehenge does its once-a-year magic trick. December 21st (12/21), at exactly 12:21 PM, the shadow of the wave aligns perfectly with the outline of the "raft" bench that is due north. Whether you are at the permanent installation in Key West or remembering its original run in NYC’s Riverside Park, there’s something incredibly satisfying about the math of the universe lining up with a physical object.
Coming Soon (The "Too Early to Show" Files):
I have several more lighting concepts in the hopper: pendants, flush mounts, and even some chandeliers. They’re currently in the early stages, so they aren't quite ready for their close-up yet.
If you want to make your space even more yours, I can help you bring your creative vision to life!
Gimme a call or send me an email and I’ll at least give you some good ideas. 😀
Again, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for being part of this journey! 🙏
Stay curious, stay creative, and until our next artistic escapade. 🎨
